Black Aspire NX.M89AA.009; V5-131-2680 is one of the newest compact 11.6 inch laptops by Acer. It runs on Windows 7 operating system, the processor is fast and efficient, keyboard is ergonomic, battery life is long, comes with a good range of connectivity ports despite being slim and compact, and the price is fair. It is a decent little computer for daily use.

Acer Aspire V5-131-2680 comes with an Intel Celeron 1017U (2 MB cache) dual core processor at 1.60 GHz speed, 4 GB DDR3 SDRAM memory for sufficient multitasking and can be expanded to a maximum of 8 GB, 500 GB hard drive at 5400 rpm rotating speed, 64-bit Windows 7 Home Premium as operating system.. This is a good processor by Intel for web browsing, word processing, Excel spreadsheets, school assignments, songs and videos and some light games. 500 GB is quite an ample space for storage for such a small system and offers fast read/write times.

11.6 inch LED backlit active-matrix TFT-LCD matte high definition widescreen display with a 1366 x 768 maximum resolution and Intel Graphics Media Accelerator that uses shared graphics memory, offers beautiful image with lively colors and clarity. The screen is small, at only 11.6 inches but you have the HDMI port on the laptop to be able to connect to a HDTV and view your photos and videos at HD quality on a larger screen.

Black and sleek Acer Aspire weighs only 3.26 pounds and is between 0.82 and 1.08 inches for easy portability. You get quite a long battery life of 6.5 hours in average use from its 6-cell lithium-ion battery (5000 mAh). The keyboard is very comfortable to type on with spaced out keys and there is a decent touchpad at the front, but no 10-key numpad for easy data entry.

There is no optical drive on the Acer Aspire being such a slim machine (which is good for its reduced weight) but it is compatible with external DVD drives, Acer Nplify IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n wireless LAN, Gigabit fast Ethernet with RJ-45 for wired internet access, 3 x USB 3.0 ports for fast data transfers, 3 x USB 2.0 ports, 1 x Audio-out port, 2 memory slots, Memory Card Reader supporting Secure Digital format, HDMI port, VGA port (to external monitors), Bluetooth 4.0 + HS interface and built-in webcam with microphone.

Conclusion: Acer Aspire V5-131-2680 is a small and lightweight 11.6 inch modern notebook with Windows 7 OS- which is still a lot more popular than Windows 8 by most computer users. It doesn't have a DVD drive, which also makes the system lighter, but Bluetooth 4.0, 3 USB 3.0 ports and all the other usual connectivity options. This is not a computer you would use for playing advanced games or editing multimedia but is fine for pretty much everything else. 11.6 inch may appear small to some people but this also makes the laptop lighter to be taken anywhere easily and you have the HDMI port to connect to your large screen LCD TV. It is quite a decent value computer at the price it is currently offered on Amazon.com.
