HP 15-f009wm is a budget laptop computer for everyday things like web browsing, word processing, sending emails, playing light games, listening to music, basic photo editing and playing videos as it comes with the entry level AMD E1-2100 processor but still has some modern day features and connectivity options like HDMI and USB 3.0 port and both the memory and hard drive size are satisfactory.

HP 15-f009wm has the dual core AMD E1-2100 (1MB L2 cache- 0.5 MB for each core) without hyper threading function at 1.0GHz base speed, 4GB of DDR3L SDRAM, 500GB of Serial ATA hard drive at 5400rpm and the 64-bit Windows 8.1 operating system. Considering its price level and the processor, system memory and hard drive, this HP is designed for your basic needs, so you will not really be playing the demanding 3D games as of 2013 or edit complex multimedia. The key here with the E1-2100 here is low power consumption- the typical energy usage is indeed very low at 7.31 watts as compared to another energy efficient processor Intel i3-3110M at 35 watts.

15.6 inch diagonal Brightview LED backlit high definition display with a native resolution of 1366x768 pixels and the integrated graphics card AMD Radeon HD 8210 that is commonly found on Kabini APUs. Although AMD is a major graphical computing company, the card on this machine is an entry level one- without the dedicated VRAM for everyday stuff and not for mid-level or advanced gaming, but it will handle the basic games like BF4 and Sims just fine. GPU performance level is something between Intel HD 2000 and Intel HD 3000. This HP laptop also has a webcam with a built-in microphone that is adequate for smooth Skype chats. For sound, you have the standard HD Audio and stereo speakers for adequate sound performance at this price level.

Black HP 15-f009wm is only 0.89 inch thick (measurements of 10.16 x 15.18 x 0.89 inches) and weighs just 4.8 pounds so you have a pretty compact machine that is light, slim and portable. The island style keyboard is full size and has a 10 key numeric pad, touchpad underneath supports the multiple gestures and is good enough for using Windows 8.1 comfortably. The battery is a 4-cell 41WHr 2.8Ah lithium-ion battery but we don’t have the information on battery life. Connectivity options are 802.11b/g/n wireless, 10/100BASE-T Ethernet LAN with RJ-45, a USB 3.0 port, 2 x USB 2.0 ports, an HDMI port, a Multi-format digital media card reader for Secure Digital cards and a Headphone-out/microphone-in combo jack.

Conclusion: HP 15-f009wm seems to be a low priced machine with entry level technical specs. AMD E1-2100 is no powerhouse but along with the 4GB system memory, it is adequate for everyday tasks and you wouldn’t be experiencing major delays or freezing but you need to spend 2-3 times more than this HP if you’re intending to edit multimedia and play more demanding modern day games. It is a compact machine- lightweight and slim, 500GB is enough storage space for most computer users and the connectivity options are up-to-date. If you’re on a budget- have a certain amount of money to spend on a computer, this one would be sufficient for your daily computing needs.
