HP 15-g013dx J5T33UA is a budget 15.6 inch laptop with a quad core AMD A8-Series upper mid range processor (Passmark benchmark score of 2521 as of today) rather than a weaker Celeron or lighter versions of AMD, larger storage space than normal and you may comfortably use it for pretty much anything on a daily basis including the latest games at lower settings with the Radeon R5 processor. This is a certified refurbished product by the manufacturer, that’s why the price is reduced significantly but comes with a 90 day warranty and these units mostly doesn’t show any signs of use.

HP 15-g013dx comes with the quad core AMD A8-6410 Beema processor (2MB L2 Cache) at 2GHz base speed up to 2.4GHz with AMD Turbo technology but no hyper threading as it already comes with four cores, 4GB DDR3L SDRAM on a single DIMM for being able to run a few apps and browsers simultaneously, 750GB Serial ATA hard drive which is 50% more storage than what a computer at this price would have- 500 GB and Windows 8.1 operating system that is not the favourite of many customers and the good news is it is being replaced by Windows 10 some time in 2015 and you’ll get a free upgrade if you wish.

15.6 inch diagonal HD BrightView WLED backlit display with a 1366x768 pixel maximum screen resolution and AMD Radeon R5 graphics for clear and bright screen and natural colours for photos, videos and light gaming. Native resolution supports only 720p image but you can use an HDMI cable to connect the machine to your HDTV to view videos in 1080p quality. There is a front facing HP webcam with an internal digital microphone for comfy and convenient Skype calls informally or formally- to catch up with family and friends or work colleagues. HD Audio quality should also be all right- loud and clear as long as you are not expecting anything spectacular through the stereo speakers. Radeon R5 graphics card is quite a capable one, which is also helped with the AMD A8 processor and will let you edit photos and videos and play older and newer titles at varying settings and resolutions.

HP 15-g013dx 15.6 inch AMD A8 Laptop Review
Black licorice HP 15-g013dx has a more premium feel than its price suggests and feels and durable as it is made from solid plastic, weighs 4.83 pounds with measurements of 10.20 x 14.88 x 1 inches which means it is both lightweight and fairly slim- a little thinner than the competitors. Bluetooth is not included (you can just get a cheap USB dongle) but it comes with a built-in SuperMulti DVD burner, 802.11bgn wireless, Ethernet LAN with RJ-45 connector for wired internet, 2 x USB 2.0 ports, a USB 3.0 port with faster transfer of data, an HDMI port, a Media Card Reader slot, Audio Combo jack and a Security lock slot. The full sized chiclet style keyboard with a numeric pad is not backlit as it would be a hard to get feature at such budget price but it is accurate and comfortable to type on (the functional multitouch trackpad also helps) and the 3-cell 31Whr lithium ion polymer battery is reported to give you up to 4 hours and 15 minutes of battery life.

Conclusion: HP 15-g013dx reviewed on this page is a decent mid-range laptop with a really nice price tag, because of being certified and refurbished. There is no touchscreen, keyboard is not backlit and Bluetooth is not supported by default but comes with a good range of connectivity options including 3 USB ports- one of them is a USB 3.0 port, an HDMI port, a DVD drive and more. You’ll find some preinstalled applications including HP Connected, Cyberlink Media Suite and a trial version of Microsoft Office and you can simply uninstall those you don’t need. If you are on a limited budget and look at it from a price to performance ratio perspective it appears to be a great computer to buy for the money- not super powerful like a computer that costs say 700 USD and above but sure has a lot going for it. You’re getting the processing power of AMD A8-6410 and the graphics performance of R5 is a little better than Intel HD 46000 to let you play even the current and demanding titles but at lower settings.
