HP ProBook 450 G1 is a reliable and robust Intel i7 quad core processor laptop that is designed for business use but suitable for home entertainment and school use as well. It has Windows 7 Pro pre-installed with the downgrade rights of Windows 8 Pro, so you can choose to use both. It is quite a solid system with great features and is capable of performing your tasks very easily and efficiently.

HP ProBook comes with a top of the range 4th generation Intel Quad-Core i7-4702MQ processor (6MB L3 Cache) at 2.2GHz base speed with a max of 3.2 GHz- turbo boost function when you need it and less speed when you don’t for energy efficiency, large 8GB DDR3 SDRAM memory (2 DIMM- 2 x 4GB) for smooth multitasking and can be expanded to 16GB maximum, 1TB Serial ATA HDD at 5400 rpm rotating speed- generous storage space and fast read/write times although standard speed and the Genuine Windows 7 Professional (64-bit) that is probably the most sought after OS, which you can upgrade to Win 8 Pro if it suits you better but Win 7 appears to be more user friendly and a more stable system on the whole. This is the first laptop that we’ve reviewed so far that comes with such privilege.

15.6 inch HD LED backlit anti glare surface display with the standard 1366x768 pixel resolution and the integrated Intel HD Graphics 4600 means the system can run a few modern games at the recommended settings but you get decent quality picture with sharp and clear images and vibrant colours even outdoors, remember this is more of a business-like laptop and not particularly designed for gaming purposes. DTS Sound+ and the built-in stereo speakers offer great sound for songs, videos and games. There is also a 720p high definition webcam with built-in microphone for video-conferences with colleagues or Skype chats with family and friends. If you need to do your stuff on a larger screen, you can connect the PC to your HDTV through the HDMI output.

Other connectivity options include Multiformat Media Reader that supports 5 formats, DVD Super Multi Burner with double-layer support, 2 x USB 3.0 ports for transferring data much quicker, 2 x USB 2.0 ports, 802.11b/g/n wireless, Bluetooth 4.0 to connect with other Bluetooth enabled devices wirelessly, 10/100/1000 Ethernet LAN with RJ-45 for easy wired internet access and HD webcam with microphone. Silver HP ProBook 450 G1 Laptop weighs 5.22 pounds with measurements of 14.70 x 10.10 x 0.70 inches so it is quite slim and compact. You get 6 hours of battery life in average use from its 6 Cell 47WHr lithium ion battery, which makes it even more portable for when you’re out and about. It comes with a full-size spill-resistant keyboard for when accidents happen (and they do happen) with 10-key numpad for faster data entry as well as a built-in fingerprint reader that protects sensitive information.

Conclusion: The HP Probook 450 is a powerful business / commercial use computer to run Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Power Point but it can also run Adobe Photoshop and other multimedia programs as well as many modern games at lower to medium settings despite the lack of a dedicated graphics card as the i7 processor with smart four way operation is quite a high performance one. It is also nice to have the Pro version of Windows 7 pre-installed and even nicer to have the option to choose this one or the Win 8 Pro. It comes with a limited parts and labour warranty by the manufacturer- Hewlett Packard that is based in California and is the largest technology vendor in the world with a market share of around 19% in 2007. The HP Probook with Intel i7 gives you more than what you pay for- great performance and features.
